Welcome to Sacred Springs Farm! There is a manor house, cottage, stables, horse facilities and land that comprise the more than 140 acres that you may one day call home. We~ve felt privileged to live here, in this paradise of rolling hills, mountain vistas, and wildlife. Swim in the Jordan River that borders the back of the house, fish in the river and in the stocked pond, and revel n the joy of catching frogs and box turtles in the woods. The first time that we walked this land, way before it was developed we had a strong sense that this was a sacred place, and experienced a deep connection to its natural beauty. The trees, the river, the creeks and the springs located in various places around the property only served to cement that bond. We fell in love ~ with the land and the life that we could build on it. As a result, naming the place was easy, and ~Sacred Springs~ was born. The authenticity, natural beauty, healing time with horses, and a county filled with people from all walks of life. The tagline on the sign for the farm is ~Retour Aux Sources~, which is French for ~return to the spring,~ a metaphor for coming back to your origins...a return to living a natural life.If you~re a horse enthusiast, you~ll find much to enjoy at Sacred Springs. The stables and round pen are conveniently located for grooming and schooling horses. The large arena is perfect for advanced schooling, and has even served as a place where we~ve hosted neighborhood horse shows. If you enjoy trail riding, the farm possesses some of the best ride outs in the county. You can ride for miles through the woods, and enjoy water crossings and paths through blooming wild azaleas and mountain laurel, all in a topography ideal for keeping your horses fit. There are even sandy paths along the river, which are perfect for a fun cantor. Best of all, the farm is situated on a road where most of the properties are in conservation easement, meaning thatwhat you see will remain pristine and unblemished by large development. Sacred Springs is right in the middle of Old Dominion Hunt, if foxhunting is your passion. But even if you don~t foxhunt, the area is known for great trail rides, parties and hunt breakfasts, which are great ways to meet new friends. For those who may be avid game hunters, you~ve arrived at a perfect place. There are abundant deer, turkey and other wildlife on the land, as well as the secret places where the morels, chanterelles, boletes and ginseng grow.Rappahannock is also a special place for the arts. Nearby is the town of Washington, Virginia, which hosts community theatre, music and art tours. And, while Rappahannock isn~t New York, it does have some good restaurants, including the highly regarded, Michelin-rated, Inn at Little Washington. This is Virginia wine country and there are many vineyards close by that offer tastings and special events. Visiting them can make for a fun and leisurely weekend adventure. There is so much more to share, but hopefully we~ve touched on many of the topics that might be of interest to you as you consider a new home. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions, as we are always happy to share the many special experiences of life at Sacred Springs.
